Gaming Involvement

I grew up in the old days of Atari and Colleco Vision, the latest and greatest in console technology, at the time. It wasn't until about 1989 that I was first introduced to the world of computers through my very own Apple IIe. This also marked the time when I discovered that I could make my own games.

Over the years I have been heavily involved with the mod and game development scene, here are a few highlights.

Command & Conquer

Although I never publicly released anything I made 100s of modifications for this game and it's sequel Red Alert. Whether it was thrashing A.I. players or battling it out with friends over the modem, I found my calling as a developer. The most memorable creation of mine was a super-soldier that had a 150mm cannon as it's main weapon and anti-air missiles as it's secondary (perhaps a Sam "Serious" Stone in the making?).

Earthsiege 1 & 2

These games marked the beginning of one of the best game universes ever made. Superior to MechWarrior in nearly every way I fell in love with the Earthsiege/Starsiege universe instantly. It was tricky to figure out but I was able to create a number of interesting mods for this series.

Outwars

This was the first First-Person Shooter I ever really played and as with most games, I started out messing around on the demo. I quickly discovered that if I hacked certain things that I could extend the game with the few resources it had available. Certain weapons were only available in one play mode, and AI bots were available in another. I eventually created a rather interesting modification that many found quite fun to play.

Starsiege: Tribes

Tribes was the Holy Grail for me both for it's gameplay but also because of the powerful scripting language it was based on. Over the years I made over a 1000 mods, scripts, and addons for this game and became quite well-known in the community. Tribes was also the game in which my mapping talent truely blossomed. My creations were featured on countless servers. Sadly the makers of the game, Dynamix (one of the best developers of all time), were forced into bankruptsy because of Sierra Entertainment's sabotage of the sequel Tribes 2.

Serious Sam

Enter Sam "Serious" Stone, the planets only hope, direct from Croatia. Serious Sam was like a blood transfusion to a dying patient; my interest in FPS games was going downhill fast until I was introduced to Serious Sam: The First Encounter. The biggest feature that I liked was the scale, it completely blew me away. Naturally I went to work modifying the game as soon as I finished the campaign and that was when I was first introduced to the C++ programming language. My OddWorld Mod is, to this day, the #1 most popular mod ever made for The First Encounter.

Freelancer

I always thought Freelancer was like the continuation from where Starsiege: Tribes left off, with a space setting of course. I liked Freelancer from the start because it was the first space sim to have a third-person viewpoint over a players ship. This meant that I could play the game without triggering my motion sickness, more importantly though it made the game easy to play. Like Tribes, Freelancer has an extensive data system that can be modified but unlike Tribes it is not scripted. Despite that issue the game offers a wide variety of mod making oppourtunities.

In September of 2003 I started a developer group for Freelancer called the =EOA= Players Consortium, which is currently host to most of the important mod making software ever made for the game. I am still an active developer for this game and work as Project Coordinator & Manager for all =EOA= projects.

What I Do

I spend my time on many things, primarily school and work, but there are many projects I keep up with:
